Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 August 2026
Apex Build & Deco ("we", "us", "our") is an Auckland residential renovation and building company. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it.
Information we collect
We only collect the information we need in order to respond to your enquiry and quote or carry out renovation work. This typically includes:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- The suburb or address of the property the work relates to
- Details of the project you are enquiring about, such as service type, scope, and any photos, plans or measurements you choose to send us
- Records of our correspondence with you, including quotes, contracts and job notes
- Technical information collected automatically when you visit our website, such as device type, browser, approximate location and the pages you view
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you when you:
- Complete an enquiry or quote request form on this website
- Complete an enquiry form shown within a Facebook or Instagram advertisement (an "instant form"). Where you submit one of these forms, Meta Platforms passes the details you provided to us so we can contact you about your enquiry
- Call, text, email or message us, or speak with us during a site visit or consultation
Some information is also collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies when you browse our website. See "Cookies, analytics and advertising" below.
How we use your information
- To contact you about your enquiry and to prepare and discuss a quote
- To plan, schedule and carry out renovation or building work, including coordinating our licensed trades and suppliers
- To meet our obligations under building consent, health and safety, and other legal requirements
- To keep records of quotes, contracts, invoices and warranties
- To improve our website and understand which of our services people are looking for
- To send you information about our services where you have asked us to, or where it is directly related to work we are doing for you. You can ask us to stop at any time
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not trade or rent contact lists to third parties.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies provided by third parties to measure how the site is used and how effective our advertising is. These currently include:
- Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager — to understand how visitors find and use our website in aggregate
- Google Ads — to measure which advertisements lead to enquiries
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — to measure the results of our advertising on those platforms and to show our advertisements to relevant audiences
These tools may set cookies on your device and collect technical identifiers such as an approximate location, device type and the pages you viewed. We use them to understand our marketing in aggregate, not to identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can adjust advertising preferences through Google Ads Settings and your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences. Blocking cookies will not stop you from using this website or contacting us.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where it is necessary, and only with:
- Licensed tradespeople, designers, suppliers and subcontractors engaged on your project, and only the details they need to do the work
- Service providers who operate our website, email, advertising and record-keeping systems on our behalf
- Councils or other authorities where required for building consents or inspections
- Professional advisers, insurers, or where we are required or permitted to do so by New Zealand law
Some of our service providers, including Google and Meta, store data on servers outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy safeguards apply.
Storage, security and retention
Your information is held in secure, access-controlled systems, and only the people who need it in order to serve you can access it. We keep enquiry records for as long as needed to respond to and follow up your enquiry, and we keep contract, invoice, consent and warranty records for as long as required by law or by the warranty period on the work. When information is no longer needed, we securely delete or destroy it.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You can also ask us to stop sending you marketing communications, or ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 20 working days. We may need to verify your identity before releasing information.
Concerns and complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or by calling 0800 803 909.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal obligations. The current version is always published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
